Buracas of Casmilo, Mouths of the Mountain

A few minutes from the Hotel you can find this incredible and intriguing monument, sculpted by nature over thousands of years. The Buracas of Casmilo, located in the parish of Furadouro, call for an attentive visit.

What your eyes meet is the result of the reduction of the nuclear part of a conduct – speleological phenomenon that goes by the name of incasion – that left uncovered the remaining extreme lateral sides of the cave that until then hid inside the hill.

If for the common visitor the Buracas (flanked by the hill of Lady of the Circle and by the Hill of Jeneanes) impress by its grandiosity of looking like mouths ready to swallow the most curious ones, for guidance, mountaineering, rappel and climbing practitioners this place is faced as a challenge ready to be conquered. It’s not by chance that the Buracas are the ex-líbris of climbing on central region with more than 60 ways marked with several degrees of difficulty.
